When is the Portfolio Review?

Saturday, September 14, 2019, 9:00am to 5:30pm.

Where is the Portfolio Review?

The Review will take place at the Marriott Marquis, 4th floor meeting rooms. The Marriott is conveniently located at 780 Mission St, San Francisco, CA at the corner of 4th Street, one block from the Powell Street MUNI and BART station. Marriott Marquis site

Can I get a discounted room rate at the Marriott Marquis?

Yes. We have reserved a limited block of rooms at a very discounted rate for Friday September 13, 2019. After you register for the Portfolio Review we will send you information for reservations. The discount is on a first-come-fitst-served basis.

Can you tell me about the reviewers?

We’ve collaborated with a diverse group of curators, gallerists, photo editors, and museum managers, from the SF Bay area and around the US, all with extensive experience in professional portfolio reviews. More reviewers will be added soon and announced via email (subscribe to BAYMOP's email list). If changes in the reviewer list happens we will notify everyone by email.

Do I need to apply for the Portfolio Review?

The Portfolio Review is not a juried event. All photographers, at all levels, are welcome to take advantage of this opportunity to grow as a photographer and make connections with exhibition venues.

When will registration close?

Registration will close as soon as we receive 30 sign-ups. If you don't get in, we will add you to our waiting list.

Can I choose the reviewers I meet with?

Once registration closes, we will send you a list for you to rank your preferences for reviewers. We make every effort to schedule you with your requested reviewers. You will definitely be scheduled with some of your top choices.

What do I bring to the event?

Bring a portfolio of your best work. This should include works from one or two sets of related works. You should only bring works that can be shown and discussed during a 20-minute review session.

What is the cost? What is included?

The fee of $600 covers 8 reviews, the presentation by Julie Grahame, a lunch catered by the Marriott, and the reception the evening before at the ACCI Gallery in Berkeley, California.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

We provide a refund (minus a $200 fee) until June 1, 2019. After June 1, 2019 we offer a refund (minus a $200 fee) if we can fill your spot with a photographer on the waiting list. No refunds are available after June 15, 2019. You may not transfer or sell your spot to another photographer of your choosing. Open slots go to the first person on our waiting list.

Why does the Registration button send me to Peter Miller Art & Design LLC at PayPal?

Peter Miller is Co-Director of the San Francisco Bay Month of Photography. Portfolio Review payments are processed through this business account.
