Closing reception: A Troubled Land
September, 2019
Come meet photographer Steve Molnar at the closing reception for the exhibit of his series on Nicaragua.

In 2014 the Nicaraguan legislature passed law 840, known as the canal concession law. This law grants a private company, HKND, exclusive rights to over 2,000 square miles of land for the construction of a canal from the Caribbean sea to the Pacific ocean. While construction has not begun at this time, the over 120,000 people living along the proposed route face an uncertain future.

Steve Molnar’s documentary project explores the people living in this area and their fight to protect their land and way of life. These photographs are from several trips to Nicaragua from 2015 to 2018.
