Over a two-year period, David Garnick photographed specimens at the UC Berkeley Essig Museum of Entomolgy. His technique gives the photographs the appearance of chromolithographs from the early 20th century. In this exhibit, forty prints from his Insecta series accompany artifacts and preserved specimens from the Essig Museum.

David Garnick lives in Berkeley, California. He specializes in artistic documentary photography that brings out the detail in the subject matter, and makes visual references to earlier periods in the history of art. He works with museums to create compelling imagery of their holdings. His work is held in public, corporate, and private collections.
